I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. It’s never too late to try something new.
Imogene Greene is 86 years old and she didn’t become a runner until last year. After walking in a 5K, she decided she “might as well join the crowd.”
So, the Ider, Ala. resident started training three days a week for three months with fellow church members. In the last year, she has completed nine 5K’s, with a PR of 46 minutes.
When asked what made her start running, she said, “I have no idea. I just did. It’s like I do a lot of other stuff, I just decided I wanted to do it and I do it.”
Her husband of 68 years, Clyde, 91, cheers her on every step of the way. He walks the distance in training, but on race day, he pulls up a chair to watch his bride.
“I’ve got the best woman that God ever made,” he proudly said.
