Forget the contract talks for a moment. Let’s talk about something bigger.

In the hours after a sniper opened fire on a peaceful justice rally in downtown Dallas, killing five police officers and wounding several others, Denver Broncos linebacker and reigning Super Bowl MVP Von Miller donated $25,000 and a brand new truck to the Desoto Police Department and Fire Department, respectively.

Located about 16 miles south of Dallas, Desoto is where Miller played high school football before starring at Texas A&M.

This from the press release:

As a token of his appreciation, Von has purchased and donated a 2016 Ford Explorer Interceptor for the DeSoto Police Department which is customized and “wrapped” to display special graphics specific to the DeSoto PD. Additionally, he donated $25,000.00 to DeSoto Fire Rescue, and that money will be used to provide scholarships for those who wish to attend the DeSoto Fire Academy (DFA). A $25,000.00 scholarship will be awarded each year for 10 years to deserving individuals who choose to attend the FDA. (Dallas News)

Miller presented the gifts at a ceremony on Friday afternoon.
