History was made Feb. 4 when the first all-amputee team rowed across the Atlantic Ocean in a blistering 46 days.

Three men who were wounded while serving in the British military, and one man who lost his leg in a skydiving accident, rowed 3,000 miles from the Canary Islands to Antigua in the West Indies.

The four crew members, who have three legs between them, rowed in two-hour shifts to finish in 46 days, 16 hours and 49 minutes.

They were part of the Row2Recovery team, which champions adaptive rowing for British military who were injured while serving.

The team raised money for four charities including Blesma (a Limbless Veterans community), Help for Heroes, the Endeavour Fund, and Row2Recovery.

It wasn’t easy sailing, either.

Sgt. Lee Spencer, Lance Corp. Cayle Royce, Nigel Rogoff and Paddy Gallagher endured sores, injuries, and even a shattered prosthetic.

It was all worth it, however. They even received a phone call from Prince Harry, congratulating them on their achievement.
