Cancer really is a disease that affects the whole family.
Ashley Wagner, 14, was diagnosed with leukemia last spring. As hard as the illness was on her, she realized its effect on her twin brother, Graham.
That’s why when it came time to have her wish fulfilled, she put her brother first, and asked to meet Steph Curry because that was Graham’s favorite player.
“I was concerned he would feel left out or something,” she said in ESPN’s “My Wish” series. “I got a lot of the attention. It was probably hard for him because life just wasn’t normal at home.”
Ashley, who is now in remission, surprised Graham with the wish. The entire family was flown from their home in North Carolina to California to hang out with Curry, attend a Warriors’ game, and serve as honorary captains.
