As a kayaking instructor, Naude Dreyer sees marine life all the time. However, he didn’t expect to play such a pivotal role in one creature’s survival.

The owner of Pelican Point Kayaking (off the coast of Namibia) was driving on the beach when he spotted a young Benguela dolphin on the sand.

“He was moving a bit and I immediately knew he was alive … and immediately stopped to help him out. I was just doing what was the right thing to do. I couldn’t leave him there,” he told Fairfax Media.

He posted a video of the rescue on his company’s Facebook page.
