Olympic gold medal swimmer Dana Vollmer is six months pregnant, but that’s not keeping her from competing against some of the world’s best in the 50-meter freestyle at a USA Swimming Pro Series event in Mesa, Ariz.
The 29-year-old will take to the water in mid-April at 26 weeks along. She made the announcement on Instagram this week.
According to reports, swimsuit maker, Tyr, will design a customized suit for Vollmer to race in.
Vollmer is a three-time Olympian who hopes to compete in Tokyo in 2020. Following the London Olympics, she took about two years off from swimming to raise her first child, Arlen. Then she went on to win three medals in Rio last summer.
Here’s a look at Vollmer as both a swimmer and a mother.
