University of Houston basketball coach Kelvin Sampson knows that a good leader rallies a group to action.

That’s why after city officials urged people to donate new clothes to victims of Hurricane Harvey, Sampson stepped up.

Figuring his connections after nearly four decades as a basketball coach would help, Sampson got on Twitter asking high schools and colleges at all levels to donate 20 of their school’s t-shirts and 10 pairs of shoes to the cause.

The response from schools has been overwhelming, as you can see on Twitter. Here’s a small sampling of the men’s and women’s teams from all over the country who have been sending gear.

Sampson proves that not all winning plays are drawn up on a white board. Well thought out, Coach.
