Former New York Giants punter Steve Weatherford isn’t booting footballs anymore. He’s doing something that creates bigger waves.

Each spring, Weatherford helps high school seniors attend prom. These are students from the New Jersey area who wouldn’t otherwise be able to go because they don’t have the necessary funds to purchase tickets, dresses and tuxedos.

Weatherford started Project Prom seven years ago and shows no signs of stopping.

Most recently, he helped 25 special needs students in Piscataway, NJ who couldn’t afford to attend their senior prom. Not only did he pick up the tab, but he made a surprise appearance about halfway through.

“I didn’t want to show up right when the prom started because I wanted to give the kids a little bit of time to enjoy their senior prom because the prom’s not about me,” Weatherford explained in his YouTube vlog. “It’s about the kids, so I don’t want to take the spotlight away from anybody.”

Here’s a look at his night:

Better than a Super Bowl win? We think so.
