Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is putting his off season to good use.

He picked up the World Series trophy and brought it to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago on Wednesday to visit with patients.

Here are a few pictures from the day.

Rizzo knows the hospital routine well, and not just from his visits. He beat Hodgkin’s lymphoma when he was 18 years old. His experience with the disease led to him starting the Anthony Rizzo Foundation three years ago. In addition to making regular spirit-boosting appearances, his organization has donated over $100,000 to the children’s hospital.

“What kid gets excited to come to the hospital when they have to have chemo? But when they think about the chance to meet Anthony, they just light up,” one cancer survivor’s mother told ABC 7. “Everything that he does for this hospital, he does it straight from the heart and the kids know that.”

Now that’s a champion.
