Just hours after his father passed, Doug Caliendo laced up his skates and not only suited up for his hockey game, but scored the winning goal in overtime.
Caliendo is a senior at Notre Dame High School in West Haven, Connecticut and lost his father to stomach cancer on Wednesday. Down 2-0, the puck found its way to the mourning 17-year-old, and he put it in the back of the net. Here’s his bitter sweet game winner.
