When it comes to on-court entertainment, the WNBA’s New York Liberty are doing it right.
They lay out the welcome mat for the Timeless Torches, the team’s dance group that is comprised of men and women who are more than 40 years old.
Bus operators, middle-school math teachers, and tarot card readers fill out the team’s roster. And, it benefits everyone in Madison Square Garden.
Take Sylvia Chappell, who discovered hip-hop dancing in her 50’s, or one woman who combats dementia by using the choreography to get those neurons firing.
“I think I have a touch of dementia that my mother and her brother has and it’s very hard for me to remember choreography, but I am determined not to let the disease do what it has done to my mom and her brother…The focusing is helping me.”

The Timeless Torches have also performed at New York Knicks’ games and at the All-Star game.
This is one team worth rooting for all the time.
