A woman who was involved in a rollover accident got a major assist from the Mississippi State men’s basketball team, according to ESPN.

Carolyn Ashley’s car “spun out” and flew off the highway in Mississippi on Friday afternoon. MSU, who was traveling by bus to their game against LSU, witnessed the scary crash.

Head coach Ben Howard, director of operations Michael Moynihan, and strength coach David Deets jumped out of the bus to discover Ashley unresponsive.

Once the men began pounding on the car she reacted, and they pulled her out from the back door on the driver’s side. .

Howland said Ashley’s pleas and the smoke coming from the mangled hood made him fearful.

Then his players got off the bus to help, but Howland told them to stay where they were because he thought another car might slide and cause another accident.

“We were worried this thing was going to explode,” Howland said. “It was really scary.”

Ashley waited on the team bus until EMT’s arrived. Other than a sore neck and leg, she had no major injuries.

“It’s really a blessing she walked away from that,” said Howland, who called to check on Ashley prior to Saturday’s game. “The car was totaled. I’m really thankful we weren’t seeing something that was more of a disaster. Wearing her seatbelt saved her life.”

MSU arrived a few hours late to Baton Rouge , but it didn’t matter. They went on to beat LSU 95-78. And got a bigger victory well before tip-off.
