University of Michigan golfer Nick Carlson received the coolest piece of mail ever.

Ten days after Arnold Palmer passed away, Carlson received a congratulatory note from the legend. Carlson advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur Championship in August despite being ranked 1,981st on the World Amateur List, according to Golf.com.

The gritty performance left quite an impression on Palmer.

It reads, “I understand that you are a serious student of our great game of golf as well as a good student and player at the University of Michigan. Keep up the good playing. I wish you the very best in whatever pursuit you choose to follow.”

Palmer may be gone, but his elegance lives on.
