Just because the Rio Olympics are over doesn’t mean the competition in South America has ended. The Paralympics have everything to offer.

In the men’s 1500m final, for example, the first four runners who crossed the finish line did so faster than Olympic gold medalist Matthew Centrowitz (USA). That’s right. Had the visually impaired runners competed in the same race just weeks earlier, they would have beat out Centrowitz’s time of 3.50:00.

Gold medalist Abdellatif Baka (Algeria) ran the distance in 3:48:29. Tamiru Demisse (Ethiopia) claimed silver with a time of 3:48:49 and Henry Kirwa (Kenya) won bronze reaching the finish in 3:49:59. Baka’s brother, Fouad Baka, came in fourth with a time of 3:49:84.

Goes to show a focus on what can be done far outweighs what cannot be done.
