Have you seen the new Nike ad featuring 86-year-old nun, Sister Madonna Bruder? You should. She’s a lean mean racing machine, who swims, bikes, and runs a lot of miles when she’s not in church.
According to Maryville.edu, she didn’t take up the sport until she was 52 years old, but she has done more than 366 triathlons, including 46 Ironmans, and she has set a new world record for the oldest woman to ever complete the grueling race.
The “Iron Nun” is a member of the non-canonical Sister of Christian Community in Spokane, Wash., and she has 12 U.S. national and 17 world titles to her name. In fact, she has even been inducted into the U.S.A. Triathlon Hall of Fame.
She initially took up running at 48 when a priest suggested it to her. After that, she was all in.
“The only failure is not to try,” she said in this video:
Who can argue with that lifestyle?
