Some might describe Rob Gronkowski as a “man-child.” His off season is typically filled with parties, pranks and off-the-wall dancing, but what he did for a New England Patriots fan who is awaiting her second heart transplant is nothing but endearing.

The Patriots tight end and two-time Super Bowl winner made good use of his time on Monday by stopping by Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston to visit Lauren Meizo, a 27-year-old woman who must remain in the hospital until she gets another heart and a kidney.

Meizo created a video in late-March asking Gronkowski to come and visit her at the very place she’s been living for the past 85 days.

“I will allow for you to have a meet-and-greet with me anytime you want because I’ve got nothing but time right now,” she said to Gronkowski in the video.

So, along with with his brother, Gordie, Gronkwoski paid her a visit for about an hour. He brought a signed jersey, posed for selfies (because according to him, they’re “what the doctor ordered,”) and showed Meizo how to properly spike a football.

“It was incredible. He was so down to earth!” Meizo told the Boston Herald. “My nerves were gone once we started talking. It was a dream come true.”

Here’s quick look at Gronk’s visit:

In Meizo’s video, she asked for Gronkowski to come inform her when a heart and kidney were available. But, the big man couldn’t wait any longer. Who knows. Maybe he’ll make a return visit once the organs are officially directed to Meizo.

According to her Go Fund Me page, she was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy as a child, and that took a toll on her heart. During her sophomore year in college in 2012, doctors discovered that her heart’s mitral valve failed to close tightly which led to a backflow of blood. So, she had her first heart transplant in 2013. However, that night, she flatlined and her kidneys took a hit. But, unbelievably she recovered from that.

Then, in June of 2017, she was rushed to Brigham and Women’s Hospital from Western Massachusetts in heart failure and only given a 5 percent chance of survival. After a week on life support, she began to recover, but her heart and kidneys have not.
