There was no bigger Steph Curry fan than 8-year-old Brody Stephens.

Stephens met Curry in November in an Indianapolis area hospital where the boy was being treated for leukemia, his second fight with the disease in his short lifetime.

The ball players exchanged signed jerseys in a moment of complete bliss for Stephens.

The two became fast friends and the Golden State Warriors even invited Stephens to a home game, where he served as a ball boy and sat with Steve Kerr for a pre-game press conference.

Unfortunately, Stephens lost his battle on Saturday to a viral complication, according to the Indianapolis Star.

The Warriors take on the Utah Jazz Tuesday night in game one of the second round of the NBA playoffs, and Curry has come forward saying the team is playing in memory of Brody and in support of his family.

“I’m glad I got to meet him, spend some time with him and hopefully bring a little bit of joy to him and his family the past few months,” Curry said. “We’re going to try to find a way to dedicate these playoffs to Brody and his family. We know how much the Warriors meant to them.” (SFGate.com)

Curry has been sporting a “Brady Strong” bracelet for the past five months, and will continue to do so.

If the NBA star channels half of Stephens’ courage, then it’s safe to say the Warriors will likely go all the way this year.
