The X Games put on a Special Olympics Unified Snowboarding competition Thursday, which involved pairing 10 pro snowboarders with 10 Special Olympics athletes to compete in a dual giant slalom race.
Prior to the race, we caught one athlete named Cody meeting his idol and snowboarding gold medalist, Jamie Anderson. Their interaction is full of fun, passion, and incredible human connection.
That’s proof that the X Games continued this race and inserted more races like it spanning across winter sports, a new group of athletes would benefit tremendously, and who knows, maybe more people would volunteer for the Special Olympics as well.
