Less than week before the start of New York Giants training camp, Odell Beckham Jr. had some very important business to tend to.
The star wide receiver famous for his acrobatic catches caught a plane to west Texas to visit 9-year-old Jayro Ponce.
Jayro has a malignant rhabdoid tumor, which is a rare form of childhood cancer that often starts in the kidneys, but can also be found in other soft tissues or in the brain. He’s receiving treatment in Amarillo and staying at the Ronald McDonald House.
Beckham learned about Jayro from teammate Weston Richburg’s father. Jayro has long said that Beckham is his favorite NFL player, so when Richburg learned that Jayro doesn’t have “much time,” he passed along this Tweet to Beckham.
@OBJ_3 can make Jayro Ponce’s make a wish. PM me and I can get it set up. Not much time. Thanks pic.twitter.com/K4i7ggQ76g

Beckham instantly wanted to go. He’s done work with Make-A-Wish in the past, so they helped coordinate his trip.
Here’s what “Team Jayro” posted on Facebook following the visit:
If you’d like to buy a “Team Jayro” shirt, like the one Beckham was sporting, you can visit Team Jayro on CustomInk. All money raised will be directed toward Jayro’s medical and travel expenses.
