Sometimes the best moments in sports happen on the sidelines. One such occurrence was on Saturday afternoon during the Wyoming v. Texas State football game when a Wyoming cheerleader got a surprise on television thanks to one of her biggest fans.
As Facebook was broadcasting the game live via Stadium, one viewer started the hashtag #InterviewCheerleaderSidney.
However, it wasn’t a college student who wanted to see some hot cheerleader named Sidney on TV. The person who began the hashtag was Sidney father, Scott Ward, who is a member of the U.S. military and is serving overseas in Germany.
Ward wanted to see his daughter from thousands of miles away, so when the broadcast’s sideline reporter saw the trending hashtag, she was able to track Sidney down, and give Ward the amazing opportunity of seeing his daughter live.
During the first interview, the reporter told Sidney that someone started the hashtag. She guessed it was her mom before running out onto the field to perform during a timeout.
A little later in the broadcast, the reporter clued Sidney in that it was her father who started the hashtag because he wanted to connect with her from so far away.
“It’s amazing. It really feels good to know that he gets to see me right now, “Sidney told the reporter.
“Thank you again for this. That meant the world to my family and I,” Ward wrote on Stadium’s Facebook page.

Who can knock technology for things like this? It was a blowout game with Wyoming taking it 45-10, but the real winning moment happened long before the clock read 0:00.
