Tao Porchon-Lynch was eight years old and living in India when she was first intrigued by yoga. However, she was told it wasn’t “lady-like.”
To say she ignored that message is an understatement. She joined the boys and eventually convinced a yoga master to let her into his class. It paid off. Today, she’s 98 years old and has been waking up at 5:00 a.m. each day for the past 75 years to teach yoga.
“Anything is possible, nothing is impossible,” Porchon-Lynch said in a video produced as part of Athleta’s ‘Power of She’ campaign. “When you wake up every morning say, ‘This is going to be the best day of my life’ and it will be.’
Here’s a look at the spot.
Porchon-Lynch was raised in India, but now lives in New York. In addition to being a yogi, she’s also a talented ballroom dancer.
Her secret to everlasting energy at almost 100? She sticks to a vegetarian diet, but indulges every once in a while with a glass of wine or a piece of chocolate.
