Ten-year-old baseball player, A.J. Brock, had a terrible umpire behind home plate in mid-May. The guy behind the mask called outrageous strikes on the young batter when they were clearly balls.
However, once the umpire showed his face, A.J. gave him a long overdue hug.
That’s because the umpire was actually A.J.’s dad, Master Sgt. Randy Brock, who just returned from a six-month deployment in Japan.
Sgt. Brock, who has deployed six times, wanted to surprise his son and 9-year-old daughter, so with the help of his wife, he arranged to step behind home plate at a special scrimmage in Menifee, Calif.
And the effort was well worth it:
