Beckham Zobrist has the Cubs in eyes as much as he has them in his heart.
That’s because the 7-year-old cancer survivor literally has the Cubs’ logo stamped on his prosthetic eye.
In 2012, Zobrist was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, or cancer of the retina. Doctors removed his eye because they were worried the disease would spread to his brain.
After returning to school and baseball, Zobrist, unfortunately, was bullied by a classmate for looking different. He told his parents that he wanted a new eye, a Cubs’ eye.
A prosthetic company was able to get the job done, and when Zobrist revealed his new eye, he was the most popular guy around.
The Cubs heard about his story, so they invited him to Wrigley Field to hang out before one of their games.
Zobrist got a tour of the historic stadium and received a bat from Kyle Schwarber.
And Anthony Rizzo came to the dugout to meet the little boy who had gone through such a huge ordeal. He told him, he too was a cancer survivor. The day left him speechless. (Fox 8 Cleveland)
