Surfing legend Kelly Slater does it all including saving the life of a mother and her child this week after they were slammed by a wave in Hawaii.

Sarah White was pushing her 22-month son, Van, in a stroller when an unexpected wave knocked them from the footpath they were on, and into the ocean.

“The only thing I was thinking was, I don’t want my son to drown, I don’t want my son to drown. I just held onto that prayer as long as I could. There was a point where I got bumped and I let go. That’s when I thought, that’s it.” – Sarah White to 7 News Australia

The 11-time World Surf League Champion saw it happen and got there quicker than the lifeguards could, so he helped Sarah and her baby out of the water.

Sarah’s husband, Chris White, posted this on Instagram after the incident.

Slater, being the humble guy that he is, left a comment on Chris’s post saying, “For some random reason I stopped there when I normally don’t. Lifeguards were on it either way and had it handled.”
