For this, my very first podcast episode of Calling Audibles Radio, I took the show’s title literally. Originally, I was going to air an interview with former NHL standout goaltender, Clint Malarchuk. However, with Lauren Hill losing her battle to cancer, I was forced to change the “play.” On April 10th, the most written about athlete on the virtual pages of Purpose2Play to date, Hill lost her battle with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG); a form of inoperable brain cancer. Lauren’s story captivated and inspired us all.

This first episode of C.A. Radio is jam-packed with a lot of perspective on the life, death, and impact of Lauren Hill:

In part one, P2P staff writer and videographer for Sky Blue FC, Brittany Alvarado will join me for an in-depth interview from the perspective of experience. Britt, a former college athlete, went through a similar ordeal at right around the same point in time in her life as Lauren. By the grace of God, Alvarado – who I have affectionately nicknamed “The Five Foot Firecracker” – has a clean bill of health.

In part two, P2P founder and editor-in-chief Kim Constantinesco also joined me to talk about the life, impact, and legacy of Lauren Hill.  We’ll also discuss another P2P topic alumni, Masters champion, Jordan Spieth, and his dominance over the course and the field at Augusta two weekends ago.

Finally, you will  get some thoughts and opinions from myslef in our Cheers and Jeers segment to close out the broadcast. Enjoy!
