Red, white and blue will be especially prominent come Memorial Day weekend at Globe Life Park, the Texas Rangers’ home turf.
The team’s foundation announced that they will be honoring those who have lost their lives while serving our country by displaying American flags on the North Lawn of the stadium May 24-27. Friends and family of those who have lost their life in service can donate $20 for one memorial flag or $30 for two.
Every honoree will also be recognized on the Rangers’ website as well as on the video board during a game.
The Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation aims to support military-focused charities, so all proceeds raised from flag donations will go to both the Dallas-based Adaptive Training Foundation (ATF) and the Travis Mills Foundation.

“We are proud that the Foundation will honor the memory of the lives lost that paid the ultimate sacrifice to our country,” Karin Morris, Executive Director, Texas Rangers Baseball Foundation & Vice President of Community Outreach, said. “By partnering with the Travis Mills Foundation and the Adaptive Training Foundation, we are able to help directly impact amputees wounded in battle.”
Founded in 2014 by former NFL lineman David Vobora, ATF closes the gap between traditional rehabilitation programs and adaptive sports. The foundation gives adaptive athletes, many of whom served in the military, an environment to train in where their athletic abilities can take off.
The Travis Mills Foundation helps injured combat veterans and their families through long-term programs that support these heroic men and women overcome physical obstacles, strengthen their families, and provide well-deserved rest and relaxation. US Army SSG Travis Mills is one of only five veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to survive quadruple amputee injuries.
So, as you walk into the stadium, smelling popcorn an eyeing a beer, take a moment to notice the flags and names displayed. After all, we live in the land of the free because of the brave and those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
