Imagine being a high school basketball player, and the day before the Golden State Warriors take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in a big NBA game, you’re invited to take the court with Steph Curry and LeBron James.
That’s essentially the experience five young golfers are having this week thanks to LPGA Tour lead analyst and former pro golfer Judy Rankin.
Rankin is giving five amateurs from West Texas the chance to play alongside LPGA Tour players this week at The Volunteers of America® Texas Shootout pro-am at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, TX.
Each girl has the opportunity to meet and play with two different Tour players.
Rankin has supported young female golfers for a long time. She started the JTR Suitcase Fund, which provides financial assistance to girls each summer in order to ensure they maintain a growing love for the sport. The organization partnered with the Volunteers of America to offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
“It is our second year to have this partnership with Mike King and Volunteers of America,” Rankin said. “It’s been more than fun to randomly select girls from West Texas to come enjoy an LPGA event and pro-am.”
The five young players also attended the official pro-am party at At&T Stadium on Tuesday night.

I can’t think of a better way for any golfer to celebrate National Golf Day.
